The first job of the IPB – Igreja Presbiteriana do Brasil held in Vicente de Carvalho, old, Itapema, was directed by the 1st IPB of the Saints in 1948 in the house of a sister named Donatila. The Sunday School had between 50 and 60 students. For unknown reasons the work was not followed up, and some of the brothers have been dispersed, others have gone on to attend other denominations.

At the beginning of 1958, after ten years, came from Bahia to reside in this city, Cezário Pereira de Matos, a servant of the Lord, whose family was large. After 8 months, this brother was stricken with a serious disease, and not resisting, he died.

While he lived, this brother was an example to his children, who never forgot everything he had learned, and particularly the commitment that they had with God.

In January of 1959, one of his sons, José Pereira Alves, feeling the need of the fulfilment of the promises made on the occasion of the baptism of their children, recognized the need to organize a group to seek God and study his Word, the Bible. For this to happen, met with his brothers, sons and some relatives also came from Bahia, and I exposed the idea. With one accord they all accepted gladly, and so, began to get together.

Exactly on the day 18 of January of 1959, was held the first bible study the first Sunday School, in the home of José Pereira Alves. He began a new stage.

Almost a year later, was organized the First Presbyterian Church in St. Vincent, and this group of Vicente de Carvalho, joined to that church, becoming here a Preaching point, and later the Congregation, assisted by those brothers. In 1960, purchased a property on the street may 11 (6), where the work began to be carried out.

Those responsible on this occasion, were Francisco Damião de Lima of the church of São Vicente and the brothers José Pereira Alves and Hezekiah Pereira Alves that lived here.

In 1961, was elected the first pastor of the Presbyterian Church of saint Vincent, Rev. Jonas Rufino da Silva, which during 4 years, spared no efforts to give full assistance in this congregation.

All the dedication and commitment of those responsible along with the Rev. Jonas brought good fruits. And the consequence largest and most important was the organization of the Presbyterian Church of Vicente de Carvalho in the January 31, 1965.
